- While reading chapter 1, list four descriptions of Victor that show his transformation. Why is his despair greater than others? Why can't he be lifted out of his despair? Is he natural or unnatural?
While reading chapter 2, look to the imagery in nature. Identify four descriptive phrases about nature that indicate how Victor feels (nature as a metaphor for Victor's feelings).
- What is Shelley foreshadowing in her pages of description about nature? Think about this: How is nature described? How is Victor feeling? What happens at the top of the mountain? Was that hinted at from her descriptions of Victor and nature?
How does the creature describe himself? Is he natural or is he unnatural?
